“”Kaiser Automobiles””

The Kaiser-Frazer Corporation was founded by Henry J Kaiser and Joseph Frazer in 1945 at Willow Run Michigan .

The company manufactured automobiles models names , Kaiser and Frazer until 1951 when the Frazer models were discontinued . In 1953 the Kaiser-Frazer company became Kaiser Motors . Willys-Overland was acquired by Kaiser Motors in 1953 . Kaiser models would continue to be built until 1955 when Kaiser automobile production came to an end . The Kaiser company continued as the parent company for Willys and other interests . In 1963 the company became Kaiser-Jeep and manufactured Jeep automobiles until 1970 went Kaiser’s automotive division was sold to American Motors .

In 1954 the Kaiser Darrin was introduced . It was the first automobile to use fiberglass for the body rather than steel . It was a two seat sports model intended to compete with the Corvette . The doors slide forward into the fenders to open . Only 435 Darrin’s were built .

The Kaiser ‘Henry J’ was introduced in 1950 as a compact model automobile . The Henry J was also built as a brand named the ‘Allstate’ , for Sears-Roebuck which was a listed in Sears-Roebuck’s catalogue but it could not be purchased by mail order .

“”Lincoln Automobiles””

The Lincoln Motor Company was founded by Henry Leland in 1917 after he left the Cadillac Motor Company . The company was named after Abraham Lincoln and in its beginning built Liberty Aircraft engines for war planes . After WWI , the company began to build automobiles . Under Leland the Lincoln Motor Company only produced about 150 automobiles by 1922 and the company went bankrupt . 1n 1922 Henry Ford bought the Lincoln Motor Company and by the end of 1922 Henry built and sold over 5500 of the Luxury Automobiles and over 7800 in 1923 . By 1924 Lincolns were very popular for police cars , and became known as the Police Flyers . In 1932 Lincoln brought out a V12 engine . The Lincoln Continental was also designed in 1932 . The Lincoln Zephyr was introduced as a sporty model in 1936 .

The Lincoln Zephyr increased Lincoln sales by 900% in its first year . In 1955 1956 the Lincoln Continental MARK II was built and sold for the same price as a Rolls Royce . Lincoln has been the top selling luxury line of automobiles in North America for many years . The Navigator is a top selling luxury SUV . The mark LT pick-up truck is selling very well .

“”Maryland Automobiles””

The Sinclair -Scott Company of Baltimore Maryland started manufacturing automobile parts in 1900 and began making Maryland Automobiles in 1907 . After building about 870 automobiles the ended production in 1910 .

“”Monroe Automobiles””

The Monroe Body Company was founded in Pontiac Michigan by R F Monroe and William Durant in 1914 , while Durant was still the CEO of Chevrolet , Durant was also vice president of Monroe . The Monroe automobiles were built in a former Chevrolet Plant , and were sold through Chevrolet Dealers . Durant resigned from Monroe in 1916 and the company moved to a different building . The Monroe Body Company went Bankrupt in 1918 and was bought by the William Small Company of Indianapolis Indiana , a previous Monroe distributor . The company was moved to Indianapolis and Louis Chevrolet was hired as a consulting engineer , to help solve some problems with the Monroe Automobiles . In 1920 Gaston Chevrolet won the Indianapolis 500 in a Monroe Racer . In 1922 Monroe went bankrupt and the assets were bought by a bank . Monroe was then sold to Strattan Motor Corporation .and soon after was sold to Premier Company .

“”Maxwell Automobiles””

The Maxwell-Briscoe Company of Tarrytown New York and Founded by Jonathan D Maxwell and Benjamin Briscoe and began making automobiles in 1904 . Maxwell had learned the automobile business by working for Ramsom Olds . Maxwell-Briscoe , joined the United States Motor Company as a member in 1910 . As Maxwell-Briscoe was the only member company making a profit , when the United States Motor Company ended in 1913 , Maxwell-Briscoe was the only Company to survive . Maxwell-Briscoe built the largest automobile factory in the world ,of that time , in New Castle Indiana , in 1907 after their factory in Tarrytown burned down . Maxwell-Briscoe was bought by Walter Flanders in 1913 and the company was re-named the Maxwell Motor Company and the company moved to Detroit Michigan .

By 1914 Maxwell had sold over 60,000 automobiles and was ranked as the #3 automaker . During the post-war recession Maxwell was unable to sell over ˝ the automobiles they had built and wound up in serious financial trouble . Walter Chrysler bought enough shares in Maxwell to take control of the company , at the time when Maxwell Motor Company and Chalmers Motor Car Company were merging .The Chalmers brand was dropped in 1923 . In 1925 Walter Chrysler founded the Chrysler Corporation and what was Maxwell became Chrysler . Chrysler models came out in 1926 and then Plymouth appeared in 1929 and the Maxwell name ended .
