In 1953 Chevrolet introduced the Corvette to the world . It was targeted as a North American answer to the sports car . The first year only 300 were produced and the were distributed to VIP type people only .

The 1953 and 1954 Corvette’s were powered by a 6 cylinder engine . Though three carburetors and even a supercharger were tried , the 6 cylinder engine just plain , lacked performance power . Sales in 1954 were less than desirable . From 1955 on Corvette was “not” available with a 6 cylinder . The 265 V8 of 1955 made the Corvette a performance sports car . In 1957 the 283 cid engine and a fuel injection system were added to increase the power . In 1962 the 327 cid engine was used .

Over the years Corvette underwent many body up-dates , power increases and became a more luxurious auto , but it always remained a 2 seater Performance Car .

Today Corvette holds high ranking as a personal luxury Performance automobile , and is still selling well in its class !
