This New Ford body style and the other new features such as , Latter Frame , front Coil Springs , dual rear Leaf Springs , and the claim to be the safest car made , the 1949 and 1950 Fords very big sellers . In 1951 an automatic transmission and a hard-top model were available additions to Ford Models in 1951, Ford out sold Chevrolet by about 10% .
