Prior to 1927 the three Graham brothers Ray , Robert , and Joseph , owned a very successful , glass bottle manufacturing company as well as other business interests . Their first automotive venture was the manufacture of kits to convert Model T Ford cars , into trucks . Next the Graham brothers began building their own trucks , but using engines and powertrains made by various other auto makers , until they made a deal to use Dodge engines and Powertrains . In 1927 the Graham brothers decided to get back into the automobile manufacturing again .
