In 1908 the model T was introduced to the world .

______________________

It was the first to have a steering wheel mounted on the left side , which all cars in North America , and some other parts of the world , have today . It had a completely enclosed engine and transmission and a solid cast 4 cylinder engine block . The car was designed and built very simple and very well . This simple design made it very easy and in-expensive to Maintain and also very reliable . The model T was the easiest automobile to drive .

In 1910 Henry built a new manufacturing plant , to keep up with the sales demand for his model T . This plant was eventually part of the world largest manufacturing complex . Precision manufacturing and interchangeable standard parts were introduced . This would help to keep the price tag lower . In 1913 a steadily moving assembly line was introduced , with conveyor belt to supply the parts to the workers ,on the line , which made the assembly of the Model T a very smooth and accurate operation .

In 1914 Henry Ford gave an enormous shock to the whole manufacturing world , when he raised the wages for his workers to an unheard of $5.00 per day . This wage increase meant that the workers could afford to buy the automobiles they built . These high wages also attracted the very best tradesmen to Henry’s company , looking for jobs . Workers did not want to leave these high paying jobs , so when they stayed long , they gained more experience and could do better work faster . Training costs were lowered because trained and experienced workers were staying for very long times . Lower training costs also helped to bring the price tag down ! This also helped to increase production and maintain the top quality that Henry insisted on and that his vehicles were known for . Henry’s wise moves and dependable automobiles made the sales of Henry’s Model “T” increase very rapidly . As sales increased along with high productivity , Henry was able to bring the price of his automobiles down . As the price came down he sales increased even more . In 1908 the price tag of $850.00 was considered to be very reasonable . But by 1916 Henry got the price down to $350.00 for a base model .

Sales of the Model “T” reached 250,000 in 1914 and in 1916 470,000 were sold . By 1918 over ˝ of all the automobiles in the whole world were Model “T” Ford’s . even the Dodge Brothers drove Model “T” Fords until they began production of their own vehicles . Model “T” Fords were built from 1908 until 1927 , during which time well over 15 million were sold . Henry hand the president position to his son Edsel Ford in December of 1918 , but Henry was still in control and had the final say in all maters .

In 1922 Henry Ford aquired the Lincoln Motor Company from Henry Leland (the same man who changed the Henry Ford Company into the Cadillac Motor Company) . Lincoln became Henry Ford’s Luxury automobile line .____________________

In 1927 Ford introduced the Model “A” and by the time production of that model ended in 1931 over 4 million were sold .

Henry re-assumed the presidents position of the Ford Motor Company in 1943 , after the death of his son Edsel . He passed the president position to his grandson Henry Ford II in 1945 when he (Henry Ford Sr) retired .

In 1925 Henry aquired the Stout Metal Airplane Company and cot into the aircraft manufacturing business . The Ford Tri-Motor was a very big success of that time . From 1925 until 1933 Ford built the Tri-Motor Airplane . It was the first successful passenger aircraft . It carried 12 passengers . 199 Tri-Motors were built . They ere used by the US Army Flying Corp. , the US Navy , the Royal Canadian Air Force , and 100 airlines .

For made very large contributions to the war effort of WWII , by manufacturing Airplanes , tank motors , trucks and jeeps . When the whole aviation industry could only produce one B24 Bomber per day , Henry showed the world how to them much quicker . Henry began building B24 Bombers at his Willow Creek Complex , at a completion rate of one every hour . Pilots were camped at the door of the plant waiting to fly the planes away . The B24 Bomber was the most used airplane in WW2 , and the rate that Henry produced them it is said , changed the course of the war in favour of the allied forces , and eventually to win the war .

The jeep that was designed by American Bantam was selected by the US Army and Allied Forces , as a personal transport utility vehicle . Ford was asked to build these vehicles as well as Willys . (American Bantam did not have the facilities) as Ford had the largest and best facility at that time , Ford produced the most by far .

Henry Ford left The Ford Motor Company to his family , to operate . The vast fortune (billions) went to the Ford Foundation . The Ford Foundation supplies grants for science and education as well as humanitarian and charitable purposes .

Henry Ford passed on in 1947 .
